Illness and rehabilitation during alternation leave
Alternation allowance payments are not affected by illnesses lasting less than 10 days. For longer sick leaves, you may be entitled to sickness benefits from the Social Insurance Institution (SII).
We cannot pay you an alternation allowance for any period for which you receive sickness benefits. Please let your unemployment fund know about your sick leave no later than when you apply for sickness benefits from the Social Insurance Institution (SII). We can pay you an alternation allowance for the personal liability period for your sickness benefits. However, this is only the case if you were entitled to an alternation allowance immediately before your illness.
You also cannot be paid an alternation allowance for any period for which you receive a rehabilitation allowance or cash rehabilitation benefits. Please let your unemployment fund know about your rehabilitation in advance.
Remember that your alternation leave is also being used up while you are on sick leave or in rehabilitation.
