Earnings-related allowance and child support supplements to rise in 2023
Benefits that are linked to the National Pension Index are set to rise by 4.2 per cent at the start of 2023. The earnings-related allowance, the alternation allowance and the mobility allowance are also being uprated.
We will update the daily allowance calculator on our website accordingly shortly after the turn of the year.
Basic daily allowance
The basic daily allowance currently stands at EUR 35.72. This amount is being uprated to EUR 37.21 on 1 January 2023.
The higher basic rate also affects the amount of the earnings-related allowance, the alternation allowance and the mobility allowance and applies to all recipients of these benefits. The higher rate is effective as of the start of the new year.
The change is applied automatically, and you do not have to do anything.
The National Pension Index is normally adjusted once a year, but this year an additional adjustment was made for the period from 1 August to 31 December 2022.
Child support supplements
Child support supplements are also going up by 4.2 per cent to reflect inflation. In addition, there will be a temporary, 20 percent increase to the child support element of unemployment security in 2023.
The new rates of the child increases starting 1 January 2023 will be as follows:
- from EUR 5.61 to EUR 7.01 for one child,
- from EUR 8.23 to EUR 10.29 for two children, and
- from EUR 10.61 to EUR 13.26 per day for three or more children.
The higher rates would be effective as of the start of the new year.
